Dear Friends and Neighbors,
By now, you're all aware of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) that is impacting lives all over the world, including here in Washington. Over the weekend, health officials in the state confirmed two deaths related to the virus, which are the first in the U.S.
As the number of cases continues to climb, there is increased awareness and concern. As a Legislature, we are being briefed on this matter and we'll continue to bring you any new information as we receive it.
In the meantime, if you have questions, you can call the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) at 1-800-525-0127 and press #.
You can also stay up to date by following them online at the various websites and social media channels below:
What we are doing in the Legislature
Legislators in both chambers are considering proposals to get state agencies and local governments the necessary funding to respond to COVID-19. I support these efforts.
We'll continue to work with DOH, the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), and other state agencies to identify what the Legislature can do to ensure we have the necessary resources.
We're all working together for the best possible outcome for Washingtonians. Continue to stay informed by checking in with the DOH website and social media channels above. I'll keep you updated on the status of our efforts in the Legislature to respond to this issue.
In strength and honor,
