Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It's hard to believe it has already been two months since the 2022 legislative session ended. However, even though the Legislature wrapped up its work in early March, I've been busy working on several legislative issues since, including my ongoing duties with the Tax Structure Work Group.
Speaking of the 2022 legislative session, we had many important issues to tackle, but ultimately this session will be remembered for the missed opportunities to implement real change. Legislators from both chambers introduced nearly 1,500 bills and just over 300 of them made it to the governor's desk. Unfortunately, of those, only 19% were Republican bills; a disappointing low.
For a complete recap of the biggest stories this session, please read my end-of-session newsletter by clicking here.
As we continue throughout the interim, there are several important issues that still need our attention, including improving public safety, making life more affordable for everyone in Washington, and resolving the many transportation issues that continue to plague the 26th District and the rest of our state.
I will continue to be busy through the interim trying to make Washington a safer and better place to live for everyone and creating real solutions that make a difference.
